SPEAKERS:
Thomas G. Slaughter, is an Attorney, licensed to practice law in 1988. He has a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He has handled a variety of both civil and criminal cases ranging from personal injury cases to death penalty cases. He meets the requirements to serve as both Lead Counsel and Co-Counsel in death penalty cases. Mr. Slaughter is currently employed as an Assistant Public Defender for the 7th Judicial District of Tennessee.
Liddell Kirk, a Knoxville, Tennessee Attorney, who was licensed to practice law in 1996. He has a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He has handled a variety of criminal cases including first degree murder and other homicide cases. His practice is concentrated in the area of criminal appeals and has handled over 100 criminal appellate cases.
Martha L. Weems, a Knoxville, Tennessee Attorney, who was licensed to practice law in 1982. She has a B.S. in Education and an M.A. in History in addition to her law degree. She has previously taught high school and has taught business law at the college level. She has been in private practice since 1982 and during that time has handled a variety of both civil and criminal cases.
William C. Talman, a Knoxville, Tennessee Attorney, who was licensed to practice law in 1986, has handled numerous jury trials, including several first degree murder and other serious felony jury trials. He has been Lead Counsel in several capital murder cases, and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is the author of Tennessee Criminal Trial Motions Practice, (ISBN 0-9651848-5-4).
Barry L. Rice, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, is a Tennessee licensed private investigator and has been a criminal defense investigator for over 25 years. Over his career, he has been the lead investigator in over 1,000 state and federal criminal cases, including several death penalty cases. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
Michael A. Graves, is a Knoxville, Tennessee Criminal Defense lawyer. A graduate of the Appalachian School of Law. Mr. Graves is licensed in both Tennessee and Alabama. Prior to becoming an Attorney, Mr. Graves was a captain with the Sweetwater, Tennessee Police Department and was the Department’s training officer. In addition, Mr. Graves was a Police Academy Instructor at the Cleveland State Community College for eight years teaching search and seizure, latent fingerprints and other law enforcement topics.
Danny Garland, is a Knoxville, Tennessee Attorney, has experience in trials and in the medical aspects of litigation.
